40 YEARS Of ..WHO? – Don and Phil aka Merv and Tim have put together this special show which looks back at and celebrates their 40 (42 now) years of collaboration in comedy. They only discovered they were identical twin brothers and members of Radstock’s Cleverly dynasty some ten years ago but long before then they had been working together in various projects and combos all of which were destined to bring laughter to thousands but keep them in obscurity.
40 YEARS OF ..WHO? is a show full of stories, songs, sketches and reminiscences. Although mostly associated with the folk scene and over 40 comedy spectaculars at The Village Pump Festival, the boys ‘career’ has also spanned arts festivals, the college circuit, cabaret and flower shows and they are one of the few surviving comedy acts from the heyday of the folk entertainer in the 1970’s.
As the 40 years show illustrates every musical genre has been exploited; folk, punk, rock, country, easy, Gregorian Chant none of which has propelled Tim and Merv to stardom.
40 YEARS OF ,,WHO? Features a repertoire of songs drawn from such forgotten outfits as The Merv Grist Players, Wilts Cownty Cownsil, The Stiff Hankeys, The Arthur Negus Explosion, 30,000 Frenchmen, Brotherhood of Fizz, Mechanical Horsetrough, Joe Strimmer and the Klosh, Eric & The Beetroot, Deceptively Spacious Tex Mortgage and the Black Gulch Estate Agents, Merv Grist’s Baldspot and of course, The Cleverly Brothers.
Find out why the boys have upset so many fellow performers over the years and how this has set back their drive to stardom.
In a show that has a format between 60 and 90 minutes,
40 YEARS OF ..WHO? takes you on a bumpy ride along a much pot-holed dirt track of nostalgia. If you want to know what life is like at the bottom (and want a good laugh) this is the show to catch or better still book!
